2015 Annual Show

The Leghorn Club of Australia's 2015 annual show will be held at the Central Coast Poultry Pavilion on Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th July. The judges appointed are Mr David Willis (Qld) for standard classes and pairs and Mr Damian Frith (Qld) for bantam classes.

Be sure to book accommodation early to avoid disappointment, as such can be limited in the area (see last years schedule for details or go to http://www.booking.com/).

Leghorn Club of Australia Inc. Show

The Leghorn Club of Australia Inc. holds it's annual show on the last weekend of July each year at Wyong on the central coast of N.S.W. The venue is at the Wyong Racecourse and is held over two days with the Leghorn Club AGM being held on the Sunday Morning before the end of the show.

The show attracts birds from all over and gives Leghorn fanciers a chance to compete with some of the best breeders/birds the country has to offer. 

The BBQ will be running hot on Saturday/Sunday Morning to feed the hungry punters and give them plenty of "get up and go" for the day ahead. 

It is also a great place to catch up with old mates from a far, Have a few drinks at the presentation dinner on Saturday night and tell your mates about the better birds you have left at home.

Show Rules & Conditions

  The Show will be conducted under the Conditions and the Rules of the Exhibition Poultry Association of NSW, of which The Leghorn Club of Australia is a member.

  All birds will be judged for type and characteristics in accordance with the Australian Poultry Standards 2nd Edition. However characteristics, colours and markings of entries in breeder classes will be judged in accordance with accepted principles and at the discretion of the Judge.

  Once penned, birds must not be removed from the pens by exhibitors or any other person except under the supervision of the Chief Steward.

  Sick, infested and unclean birds will not be judged.

  The Club reserves the right to discipline any member, exhibitor or visitor who creates a disturbance or breaches the Rules and Conditions during the course of the show.

  The club accepts no responsibility for any loss or damage to exhibits or containers at the show. However, exhibitors are assured that due care will be taken. All persons participating in, or associating with the show do so entirely at their own risk.

  If there is only one exhibit in any single class, that exhibit may be transferred to the appropriate A.O.C. class.

  The colour of exhibits in A.O.C. classes must be stated on the entry form.

  The decision of the Judge will be final. All awards will be at the discretion of the Judge who may withhold any award.

  Feeding and watering of exhibits is the responsibility of the exhibitor.

 

Show Timetable

Friday 25th July: shed open for penning 3pm – 6pm

Saturday 26th July: birds to be penned by 11am for judging to commence 11.15am, presentation dinner from 6.30pm

Sunday 27th July: AGM and OGM to commence at 10am, unpenning at conclusion of meetings.

 

Leghorn Auction

  • An auction will be conducted at the conclusion of judging on Saturday afternoon.
  • Leghorns entered into the auction must have been entered into the show.
  • Exhibits can be entered into the auction by indicating such in the allocated column on the show entry form. Auction entries close with show entries, as indicated in this schedule.
  • Reserve prices will not be in place for this auction.
  • Lots to consist of single birds or breeding pairs, as entered into the show.
  • A fee of $5.00 per lot is payable to the Leghorn Club of Australia Inc. upon entering.
  • A catalogue of auction lots will be made available on Saturday after judging is completed.
  • Bidders must register with the Auction Steward prior to the commencement of the auction in order to obtain a bidding number. Bids will only be accepted from registered bidders.
  • It is the responsibility of the vendor and purchaser to arrange for transfer of funds at the conclusion of the auction. The Auction Steward will record purchaser details and sale values during the auction, to assist with this process. The Leghorn Club of Australia bears no responsibility for non-payments.
  • Mr Peter Ubrihien has kindly offered his services to officiate as the auctioneer.

 

Accommodation

Unfortunately the Central Coast Motor Inn (02 4353 2911) is completely booked at the time of our show this year, due to another function. Exhibitors are reminded that as accommodation in the area can be limited, it is advisable to book early. The two motels at Toukley, listed below (15min drive from showground) are close together, and the courtesy bus from the RSL on the night of the dinner will be able to pick-up and drop-off from the Toukley Motel. Additionally we can car pool and arrange for taxis from either venue. Both pubs in Wyong are within walking distance to the dinner venue.

Catering

All members, exhibitors & visitors are cordially invited to attend the Presentation Dinner, Saturday night 26th July commencing at 6:30pm which will be held at the Wyong RSL Club, Anzac Avenue, Wyong NSW 2259. Trophies and other special awards will be presented at the dinner. This will be a roast dinner in the upstairs function room, in which we will have a private bar. The cost for dinner (excluding beverages) is $30.00, which must be paid on receipt of entries. Please inform the show secretary and pay for the dinner by the close of entries in order for the final catering arrangements to be made. Additionally, any specific dietary requirements should be noted on your entry form. The club will provide BBQ breakfasts on both the Saturday and Sunday and additionally a BBQ lunch on the Saturday for a minimal fee. Please indicate on your return of entries whether you will want meals at these times.

 

Raffle

Tickets will be sold on show day at $1.00 each, and are also included in this schedule. Please be generous in your support of the club's fund raising activities associated with the show. 1st prize will be a Bunnings gift voucher valued at $50, 2nd prize will be a Bunnings Gift Voucher valued at $30.

 

Catalogue

A catalogue of show entries in booklet form will be available for purchase for a small fee at the show.
